Which presidential candidate will reign in ridiculous airport security?

by Sam Glover on September 4, 2008

I don’t know the answer. I don’t think John McCain or Barack Obama have much to say on the issue, but seriously, airport security is getting ridiculous. A bra underwire should not justify private screening (nor should a woman have to remove her bra to pass through security), and mothers should not have to surrender breast milk for explosives testing.

Perhaps the TSA has not heard, but bottled water is not an explosive. (Though making flyers abandon water bottles before the screening queue is a good way to subsidize airport kiosks.) Moisture is not the enemy (although it is a bit of a squicky word).

Which candidate will commit to implementing effective security measures, not comical security measures based on fear, uncertainty, and doubt? I’m all ears.
