SJG Press Release: Julie Carpenter files EEOC charge against Princeton Public Schools

by Sam Glover on April 4, 2006

Sam Glover, attorney for Julie Carpenter, today filed an EEOC charge of discrimination against Princeton Public Schools, Independent School District No. 477 and Peterson Bus of Princeton, Inc.

On January 13, 2006, the School District sent a letter to Peterson Bus of Princeton, Inc., demanding that Ms. Carpenter be fired because “she is a witch.” This action by the School District was blatant discrimination against Ms. Carpenter on the basis of her religious beliefs. The School District’s action was a violation of the federal Civil Rights Act and the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
