In its efforts to bring about the overthrow of copyright protection by adopting arguments more ridiculous than the Bush Administration’s attempts to exclude Dick Cheney from the executive branch, the RIAA is now arguing that it is illegal for you to transfer music from a CD you purchase to your computer for your own, personal use. Home taping is killing music, people.
Logically, iPods and other digital music players–a/k/a “digital dime bags”–will be the next in the RIAA’s sights, right before they start lobbying to outlaw all digital music and throw us back to 8-tracks.
Boycott the RIAA, folks. Buy used CDs, get into local music, go to shows, and spend your money on non-RIAA, independent artists at sites like eMusic (or download for free and legally at sites like Jamendo). Drive the bastards out of business so we can enjoy music again.
