Dave Ramsey hates credit cards, and won’t let you pay him with them

by Sam Glover on December 3, 2008

Dave Ramsey preaches about the evils of credit cards. The climax of his presentations is a big pair of scissors and a lot of credit cards, sometimes contributed from the audience.

But Dave doesn’t stop there. What Dave preaches, Dave does. He will not sell you things on credit. Period.

From Dave Ramsey’s online store:

Why don’t we accept credit cards?

Dave has a very firm and steadfast stance about credit cards: we don’t accept them and no one should have them! Because Dave is completely against consumer having credit cards or using them for anything at any time, our company certainly does not take them.

I agree with Merlin Mann on this one: “Next time you evaluate some guru, look at how he handles the business of fixing your problem ONCE: does his actual business reflect the values that he espouses? Or does he go for the easy dough (and attention) you can wring out of a desperate person?”
