CNN: Justices Order “Enemy Combatant” Transfer

by Sam Glover on January 4, 2006

The Supreme Court ordered terrorism suspect and U.S. citizen Jose Padilla transferred from military custody Wednesday to stand trial in Miami, Florida.

Padilla will now be brought to trial as any other U.S. Citizen. His appeal of his “enemy combatant” status will still be heard separately. In that case, the Court has been asked to decide whether Padilla was properly held in custody as an “enemy combatant” since 2003.
