Maxed Out hits Showtime
For those of you with a Showtime subscription, be sure to check out the documentary Maxed Out from the comfort of your own living room this Friday at 7pm. Maxed Out had its TV premier on May 12 on Showtime, and will run three more times: Friday May 23 at 7pm, Monday May 26 at 10 am, and Thursday May 29 at 11pm. (If you don’t get Showtime, stay tuned because AFFIL plans to co-sponsor Maxed Out “house parties” with Consumers Union over the summer. The first hundred hosts to sign up will get a free DVD!)
AFFIL has a great partnership with Maxed Out and has helped organize screenings and house parties of the film around the country for the past year. Sam blogged about the special Minneapolis screening back in Feb. of ’07, which I got to attend as the AFFIL representative. While it didn’t have a long run in theaters, Maxed Out has been rented almost half a million times on Netflix alone – clearly it strikes a chord with people, especially after many of its pre-mortgage-meltdown concerns have become headline news. The movie is entertaining and very moving. And it’ll get you fired up about being a consumer activist. Check out our website for more info, and watch the trailer below.
