Consumer activism on the rise

Consumer activism is in vogue these days. BusinessWeek just ran a story called “Consumer Vigilantes” about consumers who skip the scripted customer service in Bangalore and instead use the web to put their complaint in front of the people who matter. Consumerist is a consumer’s ally in this, of course, publishing executive phone numbers and e-mail addresses, as well as how-tos for getting results when, say your ComCast internet service is down for weeks.

Said Dan Ortiz: “Once you get ahold of [executives], they bend over backward for you.” Quite so.

You can find executives’ contact information at Consumerist. When you get it, launch that e-mail complaint campaign effectively.
