Already at ludicrous speed, the RIAA goes a bit faster

Boycott the RIAA!

Mark Frauenfelder of BoingBoing points out that the RIAA’s ludicrous stance on copying CDs for personal use is actually even more ludicrous in light of what they were saying just months ago:

The record companies, my clients, have said, for some time now, and it’s been on their Website for some time now, that it’s perfectly lawful to take a CD that you’ve purchased, upload it onto your computer, put it onto your iPod. There is a very, very significant lawful commercial use for that device, going forward.”

Seriously, boycott the RIAA. They have outlived whatever usefulness they may have had. Music is a lot more enjoyable when stiffs in suits aren’t telling you what you can do with it.
