“Good Copy Bad Copy”

Good Copy Bad Copy is a fantastic documentary about copyright and piracy in the modern world. It is worth it, if nothing else, for the music and video clips from DJ Dangermouse’s Grey Album.

(This is just the teaser, FYI.)

Make your point by downloading the torrent from the Pirate Bay.

Best quote of the movie, following a clip of DJ Dangermouse, who made no money off of the Grey Album, one of the most brilliant albums of the last few years. From Dan Glickman, Chairman and CEO of the MPAA:

Clearly, people will not do things for free. If just defies human nature to believe that somebody will come up and they’ll paint a picture, they’ll do a statue and they’ll just give it away. I mean, yeah there might be a few people like that, but they probably don’t eat very well.

. . .

I hate to do it, but I gotta run.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why the tradmedia are going to become irrelevant.
