I just found this great PDF of what constitues consent versus what constitutes refusal when residents of a shared apartment give different answers. This can also become a big issue when police officers do their best to frame questions ambiguously (”You don’t mind if I search your car, do you?”), but that specific situation is addressed better in the Flex Your Rights video posted earlier.
